Crested Gecko Setup with Care Tips: Hatchling - Juvenile

This is my crested gecko setup for a hatchling - juvenile gecko. Bought everything on sale/ clearance at Petsmart (minus the spray bottle which was from Wal Mart) Items in the Setup: - 5.5 gal. (16" W x 8.5" D x 10" H) All Living Things Terrarium with screen lid and screen locking clips -$14.99 (usually $39.99) - All Living Things Tropical Decor Kit (6 standing plants, suction cup climbing stick, fake rock background, hiding cave, plastic scenery background sheet) - $12.50 (usually $49.99) - 32oz spray bottle (Wal Mart) - $3.99 (Standard price) - Exo Terra Hanging Vine- Medium (cut in half and suction cupped to both sides with an extra suction cup) - $4.99 (usually $9.99) Just over $40 for everything; if not on sale it would have run about $150. ____________________________________ CARE TIPS ** Note that I mention UVB lighting for crested geckos. This is not a necessity but especially for a juvenile gecko the UVB lighting can aid in their growth and health, plus the photo period is good for their day and night cycle (12 hours light 12 hours dark). From the research I've done I have read that most breeders suggest if you can use a reptiglo 2.0 (natural light) 25w UVB or equivalent light bulb, it will help with their day and night cycle, growth and overall health. If you can keep your juveniles at the higher range of their temperature scale (75-80 F ideally. The range is 65-85 F NEVER exceed 85 F) somewhere around 78-80 F, this will promote maximum growth rate. The gecko diet I am referring to is either Repashy or Clark's Crested Gecko Diet. It's a powdered mixture that you mix with water and serve as a smoothie / yogurt type substance. These are easily found and ordered online and are the recommended brands of Crested Gecko Diet (CGD) on the market. When feeding crickets make sure you dust them with calcium powder and gutload (pre feed) the crickets before giving them to your Crested Gecko. A rule for sizes of crickets is no larger than the space between your Crestie's eyes. As they grow you can increase the cricket size, but make sure not to exceed this rule of thumb when choosing cricket sizes. The live plants that I have researched that are Crested Gecko safe were: -Pothos -Bromeliads -Ficus -Bamboo Species As stated I have read mixed comments about the plant Philodendron some saying it is safe and other people stating it is poisonous. DO YOUR RESEARCH before adding live plants to your terrarium. Be sure they are safe for your reptile.**
