YVR DevVlog 04 - Medieval Crossbows
TL:DR- Showing off the Crossbows and going through grip and loading systems. We also talk a bit about what's planned for the archery range and Early Access. 00:00 - 00:33 - Introduction 00:34 - 00:45 - Drooling over the Hand Crossbow 00:46 - 00:53 - Salivating over the Light European Crossbow 00:54 - 01:17 - Admiring the Arbalest Crossbow Discussing the temporary nature of the grip Working on 2 handed grips, more problematic than anticipated Difference in draw weight between Arbalest and European crossbow 350 lbs draw weight for Arbalest 01:18 - 01:38 - Oogling over the European crossbow 200-250 lbs draw weight 01:39 - 02:10 - Comparing 12 inch small bolts with 16 inch large bolts Need to fix up the offset when picking up the bolts 02:11 - 02:30 - Checking out the Bow, Arrows, Test Tree 02:31 - 03:46 Testing the Hand Crossbow Grip system in place, can pick it up and hand/crossbow snap to where they should Can grab the string and pull it back Temp indicators for debugging Stumped on what to call the nut, where the string locks in place Demonstrating the loading of the bolt into the barrel, snaps into place to limit the movement of the bolt to the up and down when going into the barrel. Haptic feedback, vibrations when pulling string back and when firing Fail at throwing crossbow 03:47 - 05:35 - Testing the Light European Crossbow Single handed reloads are rare, not something that you typically do with crossbows with a draw weight over 100 pounds. Looking at the 2 handed reload, putting your foot into the stirrup, locking the crossbow in place. Then you reach down and pull the string back with 2 hands. This crossbow can take both kinds of bolts, the 12 inch or 16 inch bolts Hand crossbow only takes the 12 inch bolts. Shooting barrels. 05:36 - 06:09 - Demonstrating 12 inch bolt restriction on the hand crossbow. Crossbow detects what bolt you have in your hand, and if you try to put the 16 inch bolt into the barrel, it won’t allow it to be loaded, it just clips through the bow. 06:10 - 06:25 - Makeshift shooting range Discussing potential to put scoring in place eventually. Pretty simple for now. 06:26 - Outro Very excited to announce that we are bringing on some experts with medieval weapons who can guide us on making these feel real Leave your feedback by heading over to the forums: http://forums.playyore.com Hit us up on twitter: @yore_vr Check out the website for more info on the game: http://www.playyore.com 4 crossbows planned for launch, will be adding a bunch after release but 4 with different reloading mechanics will be our goal for launch
