1968 Fender Super Reverb Silverface - G&L Legacy - Demo of reconed original CTS speakers
I had the original CTS AlNiCo speakers from my 1968-1969 Silverface Fender Super Reverb reconed by Weber Speakers. I did a short recording before I pulled the existing Jensen Reissues out, and then I installed the original speakers. Included here is some discussion of the amp, and then demos with a G&L Legacy and a Yamaha SA-800. No pedals - just the guitar straight into the amp. Then I do a short demo of the amp pushed hard using the Fryette Power Station PS-100 reactive attenuator. I stick to mostly blues based material, as it is appropriate for this amp. Nothing fancy - just unplanned, off the cuff playing. I tried to play some of the same ideas with both guitars. The amp has been "Blackfaced" and serviced by Clark Amplification and has NOS JAN 6L6 power tubes from 1975, and a mix of JAN and RCA 12AX7 and 12AT7 tubes. 1995 G&L Legacy 1983 Yamaha SA-800 Mogami Gold 10' Silent Instrument Cable Fryette Power Station PS-100 Audio signal was Shure SM-57 into Zoom TAC-8 Thunderbolt Audio interface into Logic Pro. No effects have been applied to the audio. Not even compression or EQ.
