Education Director Jennifer takes us on a field trip to Whitaker Ponds to learn about why Native Plants are important to the Riparian Zone. This field trip is half an hour long so... settle in! Riparian Zone: The land by the water Native Plant: A plant that has lived in this area forever Non-native Plant: A plant that was introduced to this place in the last few hundred years Invasive Plant: A Non-native plant that is really bad at sharing and takes over a place, displacing native plants Biodiversity: A lot of different plants living here means a lot of different animals can live here too Herb: Little green plant with no woody tissue that grows flowers and seeds Shrub: What you might know as a bush!
