Some shoppers arrived as early as midnight to get the first crack at Boxing Day discounts. "Over 600 people were in line by 6:00am this morning," says Future Shop Uptown General Manager, Steve Leduc. Leduc says electronics attracted the most shoppers. Televisions, tablets and gaming systems were hot commodities. In Nanaimo the Island's largest shopping centre was full early. Discounts at Woodgrove Shopping Centre were as deep as 70 per cent. Some early morning shoppers expected busier crowds but as the day progressed things quickly picked up.
