GASparkle '61 Demo video
Yannis of GAS pickups shows some of the sound and dynamics specs of the GASparkle '61 (pickup model for strat® guitars). The '61 GASparkles are featuring some era-correct specs as: - .195" A5 flat-top rod magnets - Heavy PVA wire (AWG 42) - Low output (5.9k range) as well as some specific GAS specials, for example the GAS staggering which allows perfect string balance by using contemporary string gauge sets. GASparkle '61 are the cleanest, most brilliant GAS strat pickups, however, they offer a huge attack and thus they are very aggressive on overdrive settings. They give that "snarl" to strats, which allows to play dirty old-school rock and blues - Rory's territory for sure! They work well on RW and MN guitars. All clean riffs of the demo's 1st part are directly recorded with an Sennheiser e906 microphone on a Fender 1965 Showman amp. The sound is not polished at all on the mix. Except a very subtle reverb, no effect, equalizer or compressor were added, that's why the sound is very raw (not like a studio processed one), and the dynamics are clearly hearable. The "Rory" jam at the end of the demo features a TSL Germanium Treble Booster and a CTC Ziggy overdrive pedal for that specific mid-70's Irish rock sound, very sensitive to the volume control as clearly shown in the video.
