What Is Multipolarity? Symphony, Anarchy, Balance or Continuous Conflict? The First Session
What Is Multipolarity? Symphony, Anarchy, Balance or Continuous Conflict? The First Session of the Valdai Discussion Club’s 22nd Annual Meeting The concept of multipolarity, which entered political use at the end of the twentieth century, served as a symbol of the rejection of hegemony. And in this sense, it was used by many countries of the world. Today, this slogan has materialized into reality. Yet multipolarity, in itself, merely describes a new geopolitical landscape: one defined by multiple power centres. It remains to be understood what principles such a system can operate on and whether uniform principles are possible at all. Speakers: • Gong John, China Forum Expert; Professor and Vice President for Research and Strategy, University of International Business and Economics; • Andrey Sushentsov, Dean of the School of International Relations, MGIMO University; • Venkatesh Varma, Ambassador of India to the Russian Federation (2018–2021), Member of the National Security Advisory Board; • Taha Özhan, Research Director, Ankara Institute; • Fabiano Mielniczuk, Professor of Political Science at the Federal University of Rio Grande do Sul Moderator: • Richard Sanchez, Host of “Sanchez Effect”, RT
