The Arab Peace Initiative is More Relevant Than Ever

It is precisely because of the turmoil in the Middle East that it is time to try to settle the Israeli-Palestinian conflict. The fact that there is a relative calm does not suggest that one can control the situation indefinitely. Anything could ignite a new conflagration and set back the prospect of reaching a peace agreement for many years. I believe that Israel, the Palestinians and the international community ought to capitalize on the current calm and make every effort to resume the negotiations soon. Moreover, an Israeli-Palestinian peace agreement would have tremendous positive regional implications, and no concerned actor should miss this opportunity.
