How to setup remote start with Alexa (zwave)
DIY remote start with Alexa. How I got Alexa to remote start my truck with voice command. Watch Alexa execute the remote start here: https://youtu.be/imopmQiyWp8 2011 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 Amazon Echo Dot Components: -Amazon Echo device (Echo, Tap, Dot) -Samsung SmartThings Hub -GoControl Z-Wave Isolated Contact Fixture Module - FS20Z-1 (or lfm 20) -Power cord (I cut mine off old laptop charger) You can do this with any installed remote start system since it is just soldering into the key fob. The remote start kit I used: -Fortin EVO GMT4 (bypass and stand alone remote start - plug and play) -Crimestoppers RFALL641W RF antenna kit and key fobs Tools: -Extra wire -Solder materials -Wire nuts -Electrical tape After connecting the GoControl zwave module to SmartThings Hub: 1. Go to SmartThings IDE https://graph.api.smartthings.com/ 2. Go to "My Devices" 3. Edit the GoControl module you just connected 4. Change "Type" to "Momentary Contact Switch" Once set up with SmartThings Hub, discover device in Alexa app to connect with your Echo You can probably do similar with Google Home. But I like Amazon Alexa and the dots have an unbeatable price making it cheap to have in every room of my house. This is part of my whole smart home setup.
