CHN Bilingual Voter Engagement and Education Webinar - October 7 2020

CHN is excited to host our first bilingual voter engagement and education webinar. We understand the importance of the Latinx vote and would love to create a space to share information and raise awareness about what is at stake in the upcoming election. We discussed some of today’s most pressing issues around voting and the Latinx community such as: • Voter registration, ID requirements, and what to know on election day. • The different options on how to vote during the 2020 election. • Exploring what the Latinx community is facing and how they will play a crucial role in the upcoming election. Speakers include: • Arturo Vargas, the Chief Executive Officer from the National Association of Latino Elected and Appointed Officials (NALEO). • Mary Ann Gomez-Orta, President and CEO of the Congressional Hispanic Leadership Institute (CHLI). • Clarissa Martínez-de-Castro, Deputy Vice President, Policy and Advocacy of UnidosUS (formerly National Council of La Raza). Resources: • CHN has a web page (https://www.chn.org/proj/votehumanneeds/) and comprehensive library (https://bit.ly/3nug9Oj) available for any election or voting questions. • Check your registration status now: https://www.vote.org/am-i-registered-to-vote/. Some states have voter registration deadlines that will occur soon. Check your state deadlines here: https://www.vote.org/voter-registration-deadlines/ • NALEO’s campaign’s ¡Ve y Vota! (https://naleo.org/vote/) is a nonpartisan, comprehensive civic participation strategy, designed to remove barriers to full Latino electoral participation. 1-888-VE-Y-VOTA (1-888-839-8682) is a bilingual national hotline that provides Latino voters nationwide with vital information on every aspect of the electoral process, from registering to vote, to deciding between options to vote early, by mail, or on Election Day, and includes an easy-to-use voter registration tool.
