Using VirtualBox to Install Windows 98 on a real Sony Vaio from 2000!

In this audio remixed! live-action misadventure, I really, really wanted Windows 98 to work on a Sony Vaio Z505JS that I got my hands on. Unfortunately, without a CD drive or the ability to boot from a USB, I needed a workaround, which came in the form of an insane VirtualBox vdi to vhd conversion, followed by cloning the vhd to a physical IDE hard drive. Ride along through an absolute stream-of-consciousness disaster wherein I legitimately forgot how computers work, multiple times, only to come out semi-successfully in the end! Chapters: 00:00 - Intro and hardware specs 00:36 - Device origin and as-found condition 01:48 - Why are we doing this? 03:25 - Disassembly! 08:07 - Does the original drive work? 09:15 - Idea 1: Just dump the Win98 ISO to the IDE drive 11:00 - Idea 2: Install Win98 on a VirtualBox VM and then use Win98 setup to install Win98 on a remote disk (the IDE drive) 14:55 - Idea 3: Install WinXP on a VirtualBox VM and then try the same thing as before 16:15 - Idea 4: Install WinXP on physical hardware, boot into DOS, and dump Win98 to a remote disk 17:08 - Idea 5: Convert the VirtualBox VDI file to a VHD file, mount the VHD in modern Windows, then perform a drive clone from the VHD file to a remote disk 19:57 - Holy Shock it works 20:50 - Driver Installation Mayhem (why didn't i just use a vm to find the drivers) 21:49 - There is a nonzero chance that the dock connector was the secret the entire time 22:40 - Sim City 2000: I don't know how to play it 23:40 - Conclusions and bye!
