One of the best ways to get people feeling your groove is adding just the right amount of variety and change to the rhythm. With your control of “syncopation” you can do just this in a confident and smooth way that people will absolutely love. What’s syncopation? It’s the shifting of accents away from their usual places into other interesting places within the 16th note grid which makes up a bar (we’ll play lots with that grid in this course). At first, I’ll give you examples of some of the possible syncopated grooves we can make, after that it’s your turn to create your own! It’s important to experiment using the tools you’ll pick up in this course so that you can explore all the other grooves you might like to play. What’s in this course? 12 funky grooves to learn. Musical context examples. Advice for original groove creation. Easy to use, printable groove creation tool. Simple music notation alongside standard notation. What are the goals? Become comfortable with accents in many different parts of the bar. Get great sounding accents with either your right or left hand. Create some funky, original grooves of your own. How can I use these skills? Match the timing of accents with the music you play. Sound more confident when playing grooves with variation. Discover new and exciting rhythms on your own. Course completion checklist: Played each of the 12 example grooves comfortably. Achieved balanced dynamics between right and left hand accents. Switched between basic grooves and syncopated grooves. Experimented with making some new grooves using the tool. Recorded yourself for homework review. Revised exercises to improve. 👋Discord Community: https://discord.gg/cpmsA6k 👕Teespring Store: https://teespring.com/stores/rosslmccallum 📕Chapters: 0:00 - Welcome 0:27 - Groove 1 0:49 - Groove 2 1:10 - Groove 3 1:32 - Groove 4 2:00 - Groove 5 2:28 - Groove 6 2:56 - Groove 7 3:19 - Groove 8 3:41 - Easy Syncopation 🎬About My Channel: High quality cajon lessons for beginners, intermediate and advanced players.
