March 24, 2024 "The Humble King," Palm Sunday worship service with sermon by Pastor Kent Berghuis
Kings generally symbolize power and wealth. But on Palm Sunday Christ enters Jerusalem on a donkey, a sign of humility. John 12:12-16 will even say that his disciples didn’t realize the meaning of it until later. This Sunday’s theme is “The Humble King.” We are told in Philippians 2:5-11 that we should have the same mindset, one of humility that seeks the good of others and without grasping at privilege. Instead, we can let God lift us up even as Christ was lifted up. Service includes a processional with palm branches; choir anthem, "Hosanna! Sing a Loud Hosanna!" by Mark Hayes, directed by William Henry Caldwell; Organize Gregory Land; moment for mission, America for Christ Offering, by Ted Greenwood; Scripture readings by Jerome Stueart and Pastor David Coggins; Children's Message by Pastor Jason Alspaugh Church Services from the First Baptist Church of Dayton, Ohio.
